How to Manage Employees in Different Ways
Managing employees can be a difficult task. Motivating each of these employees will need to be done differently. They also each respond to different management techniques. There are many different types of management styles. The buddy, Mr Cool and the micromanager are some different styles. Although each type of manager has benefits and negatives, the most well rounded type of manager is the coach. The coach is unlike many of the others since they won't use extreme management techniques. For example Mr Cool always does what is best for them only and the micromanager picks apart every simple task. Neither of these methods are used by the coach. The best interest of the team is always what the coach has in mind, choosing to ignore what is best for them personally. The coach also realizes that there are some tasks that don’t need to be managed. They give their employees some freedom and responsibility to make decisions. One of the best traits of this type of manager lies in the way they interact with employees. They don’t reprimand employees if a small task is failed. Instead the coach will do what their name implies; coach the employee to success. This action benefits every employee on the team. Employees will not be scared to fail. Each employee has confidence that their coach will show them why they failed and how to avoid it in cases of failures to complete tasks. A team environment is thus created because all employees will feel important to the success of the team and the goal they are working towards. The coach does have some negatives though. Their management style may not be harsh enough for some employees. Some employees simply need to be reprimanded harshly. Coaches may also fail to give credit where credit is due since they are so focused on what the team is accomplishing. Creating a style that is a blend of the others is usually the best thing to do since there isn't one single style that is going to work well for everyone all the time.
