One of the most important aspects of hiking, backpacking, or camping will be making sure you avoid getting lost - after all, when you are going hiking or backpacking, part of the point of the trip is to "get away from it all" and relax for an afternoon, a day, or even a few days, but it is probably not part of your plan to get lost and be stuck out there for several days longer than you intended - so when you are going backpacking, follow these tips to ensure that you know where you are, and that you know how to get back to the place from which you started. There are probably plenty of trails for you to choose from if you are taking a hiking or camping trip in a state park or a nature preserve. And even when you have a lot of paths to choose from when you are out in the wilderness, it will be good to always have a compass and (if applicable) a map in your possession; with these two items, you should always be able to find your way to where you want to go, and to return to your car with no real problems in the end.
